Hot-Melt Roller Coater Video SYNOPSIS:

The Union Series #15 Hot Melt Roller Coater was designed to apply hot melt adhesives, polyurethane, pressure sensitive adhesives or virtually any coating material that requires heat for roller coater applications. The Union Hot Melt Roller Coater can help you improve efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and increase your productivity.

At Union Tool we construct our rolls so that we actually have a roll within a roll. With this construction we don’t have to fill the entire roll with hot oil instead the hot oil is recirculated around the dummy roll which is welded on the inside of the roll tube itself. This allows for more even heat and also allows us to uses a lower kilowatt heater.

At Union Tool we heat both our doctor rolls and our coating rolls. Heating the coating roll allows us to maintain a more controlled temperature and compensate for the heat loss which occurs naturally in the process of coating various sub straights. By heating both rolls, we also avoid the variation of coating weights caused by heat loss, which can force the user to apply heavier amounts of expensive hot melt adhesives.

In addition, all bearings of the Union Hot Melt Roller Coater are mounted on the outside of the slide plate, eliminating any contamination of the various coating materials to the bearings themselves. Our bearings are also filled with high temperature grease.

Another special feature of the Union Hot Melt Roller Coater is that all of our seal plates are spring loaded in order to compensate for the roll expansion from end to end, which naturally takes place during the heating of the roll. The Union Hot Melt Roller Coater requires no water cool down for the hot oil pump itself because both the hot oil heater and the hot oil pump are specifically designed for hot oil applications, saving you time and money.

Each Union Hot Melt Roller Coater comes complete with a control cabinet which can be completely separate from the coater or can be attached to the coater.

By interlocking the hot oil pump and the oil heater we insure that the hot oil pump must be on in order to activate the hot oil heater. In addition, a digital temperature controller maintains the temperature while a second thermostat provides for safety through an automatic shut-off.
